Day 1 Jun 21 Thursday

  • Arrive LYON 
  • Meeting time TBA at the Lyon airport. Meet and greet other Happy Traveler US’ and our tour escort Dimitri

Meeting point is the STARBUCKS between Terminal ONE and Terminal TWO

  • We will have a sightseeing in the ‘Old Part’ of Lyon with a local guide
  • We are going on a cruise on the Saône and Rhône River
  • Late afternoon: check-in at hotel, time to relax and unwind
  • Welcome group dinner at one of the typical “Bouchons”

Day 2 LYON

Jun 22 Friday  LYON

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • We will be going on a private bus excursion to the BEAUJOLAIS REGION for wine-tasting at the Château de la Chaize (30 miles north of Lyon)
  • Once back in Lyon, the afternoon is free for further sightseeing, shopping etc.

Suggestions: the Musée des Beaux Arts (Fine Arts Museum) and the Musée Historique des Tissus both the Textile and Arts Museum are outstanding

  • Option-Take a COOKING CLASS with a master chef (see below)
  • In the evening meet us for a Gourmet Food and Wine Walking Tour

Optional Cooking Class: June 22

Lyon, is often referred to as the second French capital and the

FIRST capital of gastronomy and the culinary arts!

Lyon is home to a number of excellent cooking schools and we will be the beneficiaries of their expertise!

The cost for our full day 9:00 to 5:00 cooking class option is $225 and includes a full day of shopping at an open air market for the best, freshest foods of the season, the preparation of that food and enjoying the "fruits of our labor" in an excellent French meal, created under the guidance of a professional chef. Our private class will be taught in English.

Day 3  Day trip to ANNECY

Jun 23 Saturday  

  • Breakfast at hotel in Lyon
  • Morning: private coach for the drive to the village of ANNECY said to be one of the MOST CHARMING villages in the world! Annecy is located east of Lyon, on the northern end of Lake Annecy
  • We will be met by a local guide for walking tour and orientation. We will go inside the Château with d’Annecy – one of France’s most gorgeous castles.  Also we will enjoy a cruise on Lac d’Annecy. This two-hour boat trip, will take us around the lake, making stops in several of the lakeside villages.
  •  Please note if the weather is not fair we may change the destination of the day trip as Annecy is best enjoyed in good weather.

Day 4  Lyon to Paris

Jun 24 Sunday 

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Journey by high speed TGV train to Paris Gare de Lyon
  • Upon arrival in Paris we will be welcomed by local guide and have a private bus tour of Paris! We will go inside Notre Dame Cathedral and at the Eiffel Tower
  • Then check in at our hotel near the district of the Champs Elysees where we will have time to relax and unwind
  • Tonight will be aboard a River Boat on the Seine!
  • Dinner  (not included) Suggestion: Restaurant La Closerie des Lilas’171, Boulevard du Montparnasse near the Latin Quarter Opened in 1847, the Closerie was a social and culinary magnet for the avant-garde. The famous people who have sat in the "Pleasure Garden of the Lilacs" include Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas, Ingrés, Henry James, Chateaubriand, Picasso, Hemingway, Apollinaire, Lenin and Trotsky (at the chess board), Whistler, and others. The place usually resounds with a jazz pianist. It can be tough to get a seat in what's called the bâteau (boat) section, but you can make the wait more enjoyable by ordering the world's best champagne julep at the bar. It's also possible to have just coffee or a drink at the bar, though the food is better than ever. Try the veal kidneys with mustard, veal ribs in cider sauce, steak tartare, pike-perch quenelles, or filet of beef with a green-peppercorn sauce.


Jun 25 Monday  PARIS

  • Your morning and early after noon are free to enjoy Paris!
  • In he late afternoon we will take the famous Paris metro to the beautiful Montmartre area where we will have a guided walking tour including the artist’s square frequented by Matisse, Van Gough, Monet, Picasso, Gertrude Stein and many other famous artists
  • Dinner options (not included) will be suggested after the tour 
  • 9:00-11:00pm OPTIONAL cabaret performance at the MOULIN ROUGE, which is in the Montmartre area. Please let Rosemary know if you would like to purchase this option ASAP, the cost is $225 for dinner and a show. If you prefer show only from 9:00-11:00 the cost is $145 per person.


Jun 26 Tuesday  PARIS

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Free time in Beautiful Paris! Suggestions will be made on what to do with your free time
  • For those interested: admission into the Louvre Art Museum can be pre-booked, just for entrance (approximately $25.00 "skip the line"or for a guided tour,  (approximately $80.00) for this afternoon, details TBA please let Rosemary know ASAP if you would like to visit the Louvre


Jun 27 Wednesday NORMANDY - Honfleur Area

  • Breakfast at hotel, check-out and departure by private bus for…
  • The Palace of VERSAILLES (20 miles west of Paris) where we will have a guided tour
  • We continue on our private bus to beautiful Rouen where we will meet with a local guide, who will focus on the spectacular Cathedral Notre Dame (subject of a series of paintings by Claude Monet). Rouen is the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
  • We will have a group dinner at hotel (included)


Jun 28 Thursday - Honfleur Area

D-Day Beaches

At Omaha Beach (10 miles northwest of Bayeux, is the Monument du Débarquement (Monument to the Normandy Landings) and nearby, in Vierville-sur-Mer, the Monument to the Members of the U.S. National Guard who fought in both world wars. In Colleville-sur-Mer there is the hilltop American Cemetery and Memorial. Here there is a tribute to the fallen, with its Wall of the Missing, drum like chapel, and avenues of holly oaks trimmed to resemble open parachutes. The crisply mown lawns are studded with 9,386 marble tombstones. You can look out to sea across the landing beach from a platform on the north side of the cemetery. The most spectacular scenery along the coast is at the Pointe du Hoc, is 8 miles west of St-Laurent.

  • After our visit to the Beaches of Normandy we will drive to the area southeast of Caen, known for the production of the most famous cheese of France: Camembert for a visit of cheese production and product tasting
  • Time permitting: visit to the city of HONFLEUR

Honfleur is a town in northern France's Normandy region. It's on the estuary where the Seine River meets the English Channel. The Vieux-Bassin (old harbor), lined with 16th- to 18th-century townhouses, has been a subject for artists including Claude Monet and native son Eugène Boudin. Nearby is 15th-century St. Catherine's Church, a vaulted timber structure erected by shipbuilders.

  • GIVERNY to visit Claude Monet’s home and gardens

Monet moved to Giverny, a village along the Seine about 45 miles to the northwest of Paris, in 1883. Here he designed a pond, redesigned much of the garden and, most famously, created the paintings of water lilies, flower beds and the Japanese footbridge
